Preserve Senior Care Summer Memories

Looking for fun, creative ways to capture and preserve summer activities? These are great options for Activity Coordinators or Life Enrichment staff to incoporate in their end-of-summer activity schedules. Nursing homes and Adult Day Care Services work hard to program meanginful, memorable activities and events during the summer season. Here are a few ways you can make summer memories warm your hearts well into the cold and snow!

Scrapbooking

  • Traditional Scrapbooking

An enjoyable way to organize photos and make your memories last is to craft a personalized scrapbook. This can make for a great group activity. Celebrate your care home's summer season with treasured photos and ephemera. Making a unique scrapbook gives residents a chance to get a little bit creative. Have participants jot down moments that may otherwise be forgotten. It also gives you a place to store all of those event programs and field trip stubs.

  • Make it Digital
Storii Media Albums

Create an album on StoriiCare and make it shareable so that your residents' friends and relatives can see what exciting activities you've offered! It is easy to set up and enables you to add all sorts of media including videos, images & audio recordings. The benefit to getting relatives connected is that they can share their summer memories with their loved one, too!

Create A Short Movie

A fun way to relive your most memorable moments and bring those memories back to life is by creating a short movie. This is a great way to show staff, service users and families a recap of summer fun in just a few minutes. Apple's iMovie is an excellent tool to use by adding different themes, special effect, transitions, text and music to your photos. If iMovie is not for you, there are also lots of other free video editing websites that will do the trick - our favourites include Kizoa, Slidely or Stupeflix.

Wall Collages

Nothing like a little "mood board" to brighten up the walls of your care community. Have residents cut or tear out images and words from magazines. Print off photos. Use construction paper to make a summer scene. The possibilites are endless!
