Lisa's Story

Lisa Hirsch is the woman behind the international blog Mommy Hero, which documents her everyday journey as a caregiver for her mother Ruth, who suffers from Alzheimer's. Lisa's blog entries reveal the harsh realities of how Alzheimer's disease can affect not only the person diagnosed but the devastating whirlwind effect it has on everyone around them. The most precious part of Lisa's story is that she believes that her mother's illness has brought them closer together than ever.

"My Mom who has Alzhiemer's has become my hero. She touches my heart each and every day... Mom not only is my hero, she continues to inspire me after 13 years of having this disease. It was not always like this, yet today, I am so fortunate to have an unconditional love for her".

'A Letter to my Mom' is a heartfelt letter that Lisa wrote to her mother in November 2015 which has touched the hearts of many.

Following the success of the Mommy Hero blog, Lisa has now published a book based on her experiences of being a caregiver to her mother Ruth. My Mom My Hero: Alzheimer's - A Mother and Daughter's Bittersweet Journey tells the story of their mother-daughter relationship through a series of entries from Lisa’s blog. It is an inspirational and uplifting book for anyone who is going through a difficult time caring for a loved one who suffers from Alzheimer's.
